What is the Sproochentest Lëtzebuergesch?

An oral production part (Mëndlechen Ausdrock)

  • Choose one of two topics and a five-minute discussion/interview ensues. Possible topics include:

    • sports, work, travel & vacation, healthy living, my living space, transportation, hobbies, household chores, creativity, languages, reading, media & technology, summer & winter, giving gifts

  • Describe one of three images you are presented with (5 minutes).

A listening comprehension part (Héierverstoen)

  • Listen to three separate recordings and answer multiple choice questions. The listening exam is approximately 25 minutes long. Possible recordings include:

    • A news item, a conversation between people, a presentation or a longer conversation.

Taking the Sproochentest for Luxembourg Citizenship

Every person who has lived in Luxembourg for more than 5 years is eligible to obtain Luxembourgish nationality by applying for naturalisation. The main requirement is showing proof of some Luxembourgish language ability. To do so, people must pass the Sproochentest.
